There was an HBR article done in the early 90s (an interview with the
CEO of Xerox) that addresses what you are seeking. It was titled "The
CEO as Organization Architect."

I am looking for one or two articles on aspects of org
design/architecture
(i.e., incentives, decision rights, structure, culture, leadership) to
be
used in a MBA strategy course. The article(s) will be used to explore
how
strategy is implemented and sustained via org design. Please send me
your
recommendations and I will summarize for the list. Thanks in advance.
