Commensurately with the continued growth in our faculty, we are expanding our management doctoral program. The mission of the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Houston</st1:placename></st1:place>'s doctoral program in Management is to develop research and teaching competence, and to prepare scholars to assume faculty and research positions in leading research universities. We very much hope that there are some prospective applicants at your university, and that you will put them in touch with us.
Our program offers doctoral candidates the opportunity to work closely with recognized scholars in the fields of organizational behavior, human resource management, strategic management, and organizational theory. The program's many strengths include:
· A new improved curriculum and a new core competence of the management department in the area of leadership, including the leadership of organizations, teams, individuals, and the self;
· A limited and selective enrollment that provides students opportunities to develop personal and professional ties with faculty and fellow students;
· Competitive level of funding through departmental research assistantships. Students are also eligible for fellowships and other awards offered by the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Houston</st1:placename></st1:place>, as well as support for travel to professional conferences;
· Access to the cosmopolitan environment of Houston, the 4th largest city in the US, the energy capital of the world, the space city, home to the largest medical center in the world, and "The best city to live, work and play" according to Kiplinger's 2008 Personal Finance ranking.
