Academy of Management Symposium: Senior Scholars Encore Careers
The sizable proportion of Academy members approaching retirement age face the challenge of what to do with their talent, experience, and energy during the next phase of their career. Although most people spend considerable time planning for how to finance their retirement, fewer take the time to carefully plan how they will spend their time in retirement. The purpose of this symposium is to explore different options in retirement and to surface and discuss the difficult issues facing people who are contemplating retirement. This symposium, organized by Bob Ford and Rick Mowday, features presentations by four eminent colleagues ( Lotte Bailyn, Andre Delbeq, Marty Evans, and Benjamin Schneider) who will share their own thoughts and approaches to retirement. The symposium will also allow time for small group interaction to surface issues and concerns of members contemplating retirement, and how the Academy of Management might better serve the needs of this segment of their membership.
