Research in management revolves around firms and markets, operating at a macro-meso level, but necessitates assumptions about the behavior of individuals. The assumptions of neoclassical economics may be ubiquitous but progress has been made in offering refinements grounded in behavioral and cognitive research. Challenges still lie ahead as we endeavor to develop realistic, parsimonious, and generalizable theories linking micro behavior to macro outcomes in organizations and markets.
In Behavioral Strategy: Prominent Questions, Paper Development, a professional development workshop at the AoM Montréal meeting, distinguished panelists will comment on the state of the art and then join roundtable discussions aimed at furthering our work. We expect a diverse crowd, novices and experts, some prominent and some promising, from multiple disciplines (economics, psychology, sociology, organizational theory), utilizing a range of methods: experiments, simulations, archival data, fieldwork and more.
***Advance Your Own Work! Submit an Extended Abstract*** To have your work discussed at a roundtable and commented upon by our panelists, submit an extended abstract (500 words), including an overview of your research topic and questions, the method, the expected contributions or key findings (if available). Comment on the most important challenges you face in crafting your paper for journal submission. Include up to four key words. The Best Behavioral Strategy Work in Progress award will be bestowed on one lucky participant.
A snag on the PDW website has been corrected and registration has been extended by a few days. Send your abstract by June 14, 2010 to
