What is the being in being a leader? Are you interested in an introduction to a revolutionary way to develop leaders? One in which we don't talk about leadership, but rather, we create leaders who make a difference? At this PDW you will experience the cutting edge of developing leadership in yourself and in developing leadership in others - a new perspective on the science of leadership.
Being a leader and the effective exercise of leadership: an ontological model

Presenter: Kari Granger (U.S. Air Force Academy)
Organizer: Katalin Takacs Haynes (Texas A&M U.)
Time: Saturday, Aug. 7th, 2010, 9:30-12:30 am.
Location: Le Centre Sheraton Salon 1.
Sponsoring divisions: OB, BPS, HR ODC, ENT, CM
This PDW is an interactive workshop based on the three presenters' six-year long research program in which they developed a methodology to reliably create leaders. Now the material is made available for management scholars, researchers and practitioners to use, experiment with, study, improve upon and innovate from. The full course is designed to leave participants being leaders and exercise leadership effectively, as their natural self-expression. It is also the foundation of a new science of leadership. In this PDW participants learn about and get a first-hand experience of the new methodology for developing leaders.
Participants will
- learn what it takes to exercise leadership effectively,
- see new pathways to developing leadership in others with integrity, authenticity and with a purpose bigger than oneself,
- interact with the presenters and the PDW participants,
- personally experience an aspect of being a leader· learn about an emerging area of research.
