Dave and Dr Alawadh
At the University of Tennessee, we use one of the high level Marketplace ® simulations in our 'capstone' MBA course. The course has a strong strategy component and the simulation allows the students to "practice" strategy concepts, principles and ways of thinking.
At the MBA and EMBA level, I can recommend the International Corporate Management version of Marketplace. The simulation is online and there is a comprehensive set of assessment tools that can be used with it.
You can find the simulation at

I administer a non-commercial, multi-campus, Internet-based strategy simulation each semester. If interested in involving your students in the experience, drop me a line.
Best,

Subject: Questions: MBA strategy course
Hello,
Background: I've been asked to develop a hybrid (both in-class and online) MBA strategy course. There is some expectation that the course serves as a 'capstone' for the MBA program. Specifically, there is a desire that strategy integrate other course content vs. focusing on strategy as its own field. The current suggestion is to use a strategy simulation to demonstrate how marketing, operational and other decisions interact and cummulate.
Questions:
1) What have people experienced in relation to the pro/con of using a strategy simulation in general and for a capstone experience?
2) What other approaches have people used and found worked well for a capstone exercise?
a. In strategy
b. Subject X
3) What are the pro/con of having strategy as a stand alone course vs. treated as a captsone?
4) What "strategy" content do people view as "core" to MBA knowledge?
Feel free to send replies directly to me:
david.king@marquette.edu. I can summarize inputs and then re-post them for BPSnet in a approximately 1 week (non-scientific estimated latency between past questions and replies).
Respectfully,
Dave
