Your student might like to consider using George Kelly's Personal Construct Theory and the associated 'repertory grid' which provides an effective way to elicit from managers their constructs relating to aspects of strategy (and other things). It is good for idiographic work and there are techniques available for looking at the way small groups think about issues. Dr Robert Wright at Hong Kong Polytechnic University has written on this and I would be happy to talk to the student if that helped.

Hi all,
I have a DBA student that is interested in examining how mid-level managers perceive differences in strategy (business-level strategy, product range or networking) between an acquiring firm and an acquired firm. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
