    New Editor and Call for Papers  - Business Strategy Series

     

    Emerald Group Publishing are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Richard Pech, La Trobe University, Australia, as the new Editor of the Business Strategy Series!

     

    Dr Pech has redefined the scope and aims of the journal and is now calling for submissions which fit the journal's revised outlook:

     

    Scope

    The Business Strategy Series is a multi-disciplinary journal incorporating numerous methodologies to improve our understanding of business strategy and the context in which strategy is deployed. We welcome contributions in the form of interviews, case studies, empirical research, and conceptual papers, but they must all address the 'so what?' question. What does it all mean for the practitioner?

    All contributions will be rigorously peer reviewed after being examined by the Editor for compatibility with the journal's aim and acceptability for publication. Contributors are asked to refrain from applying reductionist theories unless it can be clearly argued that such an approach can provide a real-world insight into an as-yet unsolved problem.

     

    Aims

    Researchers often attempt to explain business and organisational phenomena citing a specific field of expertise and developing discipline-specific frameworks to act as aids in their understanding. Such an approach examines organisational life through a narrow lens that provides detailed information, but sometimes at the cost of seeing the whole picture. Such approaches, sometimes of a reductionist nature, attempt to frame insights within a confined, narrow window. The view can be extremely clear, but the picture is often very small. For practitioners, it can be frustratingly difficult to make sense of such material.

    The Business Strategy Series attempts to examine the business world, as well as those who populate its landscape, by providing the reader with an holistic and practical interpretation of organisational life. Rather than confining our explanations of strategy and strategists to a single discipline or narrow theoretical perspective, we endeavour to broaden the view to scrutinise the landscape that inspired or compelled specific business activities. We aim to understand the mind/s behind the strategic decisions, to capture the dynamics underpinning the strategy, to view the planning and communications supporting the delivery, and to comprehend the consequences of it all.
