    Summary of PDW:

Although multi-industry studies are the staple of management research, scholars continue to draw
continues to draw substantial insights from single industry case studies. Such case studies allow
researchers to engage with rich data as a first step towards developing more systematic theory, but
they also enrich our understanding of existing theories by examining how specific industry
characteristics impact organizational dynamics and firm strategy.

In spite of the insights that can be obtained from studies that focus on a single industry, it is
widely acknowledged that scholars that pursue this type of research confront unique theoretical and
methodological issues. This PDW sets out to bring together researchers that engage, or would like
to engage, deeply with single industry research. The PDW will also provide an opportunity for
researchers that work on the same industries or sectors to share industry/sector knowledge and
    explore collaboration.
