Hello BPS Colleagues!
We are reaching out to you related to the newly created SMS Teaching Strategy Community. The mission of the SMS Teaching Community is to provide high impact, immediately implementable teaching methodologies and tools based upon research and best practices. Teaching Community leaders Paul Friga, Jay Dial and Margaret Cording are excited to announce that there will be 6 teaching track sessions during this year's SMS Annual Conference in Prague.
Highlights from this year's program include: lifelong lessons in teaching strategy by Jay Barney and Nitin Nohria, retooling the core strategy class by Rob Grant, strategy simulations by Harvard Business School Publishing, strategy teaching 101 for doctoral students and new faculty, research in contemporary issues of teaching strategy including blended strategies, and much more! We will also be hosting a special reception for anyone interested in the SMS Teaching Community on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM. Shown below is the program for this year's teaching sessions at the SMS annual conference.
Finally, we are still gathering data for an innovative new session this year that is dedicated to using video clips from movies, TV and the internet in the strategy classroom. Russ Coff and Paul Friga will deliver best practice examples and demonstrations of not only video clips but also advice on how to effectively integrate them into an effective learning experience. If you have a favorite video/YouTube clip that you use in your strategy class, please share the information with Paul Friga by Monday, October 1 – pnf@unc.edu .
Thank you very much and we hope to see you at a Teaching Community session this year!
Sincerely,
Paul Friga (Chair), Jay Dial (Program Chair), and Margaret Cording (Associate Program Chair)
