    The Business Policy and Strategy Division will sponsor a doctoral consortium during the pre-conference period of the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Atlanta, Georgia. The objectives of the consortium are to support late-stage doctoral students as they shape and finalize their dissertations, to introduce them to some of their future colleagues, and to enhance their scholarship, teaching and overall development. To qualify for the consortium, a candidate must be in the early or proposal stage of his or her dissertation. The consortium will be held on Friday, August 11 from 6 pm to 9 pm; Saturday, August 12 from 8 am to 5 pm, and on Sunday, August 13, from 8 am to noon.

    The 2006 consortium co-chairs are Jan Rivkin (Harvard University) and Tammy L. Madsen (Santa Clara University). The faculty panel consists of Joel Baum (University of Toronto), Ming-Jer Chen (University of Virginia), Yves Doz (INSEAD), Donald Hambrick (Penn State University), Riitta Katila (Stanford University), Jackson Nickerson (Washington University @ St. Louis), Margaret Peteraf (Dartmouth), and Minyuan Zhao (University of Minnesota).

    Interested doctoral candidates must apply in the writing by May 5, 2006 by submitting:
    1) a current CV;
    2) a statement indicating a commitment to attend if accepted; and
    3) a letter from the thesis chairman or preferably the department Chair nominating the applicant to represent the school at the consortium. The nomination letter should also verify that the candidate is in the process of writing a dissertation and what support will be given to the candidate by the school.

    Applications should be sent electronically to tmadsen@scu.edu. The preferred format is a single Word document with the candidate's last name included in the file name. If electronic submission is not possible then applications can be sent to the following address:

    Tammy L. Madsen
    Management Dept.
    Santa Clara University
    500 El Camino Real
    Santa Clara, CA 95053-0390

    Any questions concerning the Consortium may be addressed to Tammy Madsen at (408) 551-7165 or tmadsen@scu.edu. Participants will be notified of their selection by June 24, 2006.
