    The Department of Management in the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University is seeking to hire a new Department Chairperson scheduled to start in August of 2016. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in a relevant area of scholarship (e.g., Management, Strategy, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Industrial and Organizational Psychology) and should have a professional record consistent with an appointment to Full Professor with tenure. Salary is competitive.

     

    The Management Department (http://management.broad.msu.edu/) attracts bright, ambitious students and is the home of internationally recognized faculty who are among the most accomplished scholars and teachers. The department offers bachelor's degrees in Management and Human Resource Management, minors in Retail Management and Sports Business Management, a master's degree in Management, Strategy and Leadership, and a PhD with specializations in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Strategic Management.  The department is also a major contributor to the Executive and Full-time MBA programs.

     

    A department chairperson at Michigan State University serves as the chief representative of his or her department within the University. He or she is responsible for the unit's educational, research, and outreach programs, budgetary matters, academic facilities, and personnel matters, taking into account the advisory procedures of the unit. The chairperson has a special obligation to build a department strong in scholarship, teaching capacity, and outreach.

     

    We are looking for candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our current group of organizational behavior and human resource management faculty (Georgia Chao, Don Conlon, Nicholas Hays, John Hollenbeck, Russell Johnson, Frederick Morgeson, John Schaubroeck, Brent Scott, Linn Van Dyne) and our strategic management faculty (Gerry McNamara, Kent Miller, Jamal Shamsie, Robert Wiseman).To be given consideration, applicants must provide a cover letter describing their primary professional experiences and accomplishments, three letters of recommendation, and a curriculum vitae.

    Eli Broad College of Business

     

    The Broad College has 125 full-time faculty in five departments: Accounting and Information Systems, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management and one industry specific unit, The School of Hospitality Business. All six units offer degrees at the undergraduate level and graduate levels. The work of the College is supported by a 100-person administrative staff and 50 academic specialists. Currently, nearly 5,800 students are enrolled at the undergraduate level, and about 1,000 students are enrolled in specialized masters, doctoral, or MBA degree programs as well as various Executive Development Programs, making Broad one of the largest business colleges in the country.
