Overview of the workshop:
This workshop will study recent advances in knowledge management and will highlight challenges that need to be addressed in order to manage knowledge effectively in organizations. Given that managing what organizations know and what they need to know is key to gaining and sustaining competitive advantage in a knowledge based economy, this PDW will be well suited for the BPS division. Further, this workshop covers a wide range of topics that look at emerging theoretical developments, connections between strategic management and other disciplines (such as entrepreneurship, global innovation), and methodological issues.
Workshop Format
This PDW will be organized for two and a half hours hours, and will have two main components. Following an introduction to the PDW, we will have presentations by distinguished researchers in the field of knowledge management who will offer insights on their current research and how this field can be advanced in the future. Each presenter will discuss issues/ challenges that the field of knowledge management is currently facing, and related venues of future research. Second, we will have a moderated panel discussion, where based on questions generated during the PDW, there will be further reflection on specific topics within the field of knowledge management. The purpose of this interaction is to generate meaningful learning experiences and to facilitate thought provoking future research directions.
