First, thanks to those of you who have expressed interest in the case template, and I'm so sorry to have inadvertently clogged up the BPS listserv with the requests. Mason Carpenter was kind enough to offer to put them on his BPS Teaching Toolkit site (link below), so now people can download them there. The first file is my syllabus which describes what they're required to do when creating an analysis without a case. Having the gates be required really helps them keep up with the project instead of procrastinating. The second file is the template. It's very simple but it helped the students get comfortable with writing a case (I used it for the innovation course so it has some stuff in it that's atypical for a regular strategy course). I have only used the write-an-original-case-and-note assignment in full semester courses (12-13 weeks), but I have used create-an-analysis-without-a-case assignment also in half courses (6-7 weeks).
