    Announcement of the Maggie and Will Brooke Professor in Entrepreneurship

    The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama seeks an outstanding candidate to be appointed as the Maggie and Will Brooke Professor in Entrepreneurship in the Department of Management.

    The ideal candidate is expected to have and maintain a nationally recognized level of research scholarship, will have excellent interpersonal skills and distinguished research and teaching records that warrant appointment as an Associate Professor (tenure-track) or Full Professor (tenured) at a major research university.

    Evidence of scholarship should be supported by a record of significant publications in high quality journals. A record of external research funding from nationally-recognized and prominent sources is desirable, but not a requirement for the position.

    While all candidates with a strong research record in entrepreneurship will be considered, candidates with research program sub-specialties in Strategic Management, International Business and/or Organizational Theory are especially encouraged to apply. Research programs focused on topics such as new venture creation, corporate entrepreneurship, technology development and transfer, innovation management, social entrepreneurship, family business, and international entrepreneurship are attractive.

    The position includes effective collaboration with other Colleges at the University of Alabama, including the College of Engineering, College of community Health Science, College of Human Environmental Science, the College of Arts and Sciences and other university and college centers and institutes. These organizations include the University Entrepreneurship Council, the Small Business Development Center, the Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute, the Family Business Forum, the Alabama International Trade Center and the Alabama Innovation and Mentoring Entrepreneurs Institute. Several of these organizations have been in place for over 20 years and are well established in the state.

    Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses such as the Foundations of Entrepreneurship, new Venture Creation, Corporate Entrepreneurship and Small Business Consulting. Current course offerings in the Entrepreneurship program include concentrations in undergraduate, MBA and Ph.D. program. Position holder will provide leadership in Entrepreneurship for the College and the University in program development and outreach activities as well as maintain close relationships with successful entrepreneurs/venture capitalists as key stakeholder groups

    The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration (http://www.cba.ua.edu) was established in 1919 and in 1929 became the 38th school to earn admission into the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business. The excellence of the UA business school has been acknowledged on a national level. The undergraduate program is ranked 29th among public universities. The Entrepreneurship program (http://aei.cba.ua.edu/) has been recognized by the Entrepreneur Magazine and the Princeton Review as one of the top 20 undergraduate programs nationally for the last 3 years consecutively.  

     

    Salary is competitive.

    The search was initiated on 5//25/2009 and the effective start date is January 1, 2010 or later
