2009 Entrepreneurship Division Junior Faculty Consortium, Aug 7, 2009

The Entrepreneurship Division will sponsor a Junior Faculty Consortium during the 2009 annual meetings of the Academy of Management in Chicago, IL.  This year's program is specifically aimed at the needs of new assistant professors.

On Friday, August 7th a panel of experts will provide practical advice about managing your career to help you succeed in the classroom AND have time to do research. Topics will range from class management and grading to tips on how to do a new prep and managing difficult classroom situations. Faculty will then discuss the "Phases of an Assistant Professor's Academic Life" and the path toward tenure. Challenges and experiences you can expect to face in each phase as well as practical advice about determining when or whether to re-enter the job market will also be addressed.

The Consortium will begin at 12:30 pm on Friday, August 7, 2009 with a lunch and will conclude with a dinner at a nearby restaurant.  The consortium will take place at DePaul University which has graciously donated space and which is located in close proximity to the conference hotels.

This year's consortium is chaired by Bill Schulze (U. of Utah) and Lou Marino (U. of Alabama).  The Consortium will be limited to 25 participants to allow lots of time for interaction. Qualified participants will be admitted on a first come basis.

To apply, please send the following two items as email attachments to Lou Marino (lmarino@cba.ua.edu) or Bill Schulze (William.Schulze@Utah.edu).
