    Postdoctoral Researcher Positions

    The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management of Aalto University is devoting increasing efforts to creating and transforming technology-based business in the spirit of Aalto University's strategy. Current research covers, for example: the design and operation of modern production systems that deliver combinations of goods, services, and information; strategic management; technology-based entrepreneurship, and leadership in knowledge-intensive organizations.     To promote its research agenda, the department is presently seeking to hire 2–4 postdoctoral researchers who would be good matches to some of the fields of research at the department.

    The contract period is 2 years (starting date negotiable). In addition to personal research work, the postdocs are expected to participate in teaching and student supervision in collaboration with the research groups presently active at the department.

The following documents should be attached to the e-mail in a single pdf file:

    A research statement (up to five pages) outlining planned postdoctoral research work
    Curriculum vitae
    List of publications
    Short description of teaching experience
    Degree certificate of the PhD degree, including a transcript of the doctoral studies. In case the doctoral degree is still pending, an up-to-date study transcript and a plan for completion of the degree should be provided
    The candidates should also arrange for reference letters from the two indicated senior academics to be sent separately to the address kirjaamo@aalto.fi by the deadline.

    The salary is competitive and the contract includes occupational health and social security benefits.

    Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview in Helsinki in March 2012. In the review process, particular emphasis is placed on the quality of the candidate's previous research and international experience, together with the substance, innovativeness, and feasibility of the research plan, and its relevance to the department's mission. Good command of English is a necessary prerequisite. The candidates must have completed their PhD degree before the start of the contract period, and efficient and successful completion of studies is considered an additional merit.
