The objective of this workshop is to bring together scholars who work on the topics of alliance dynamics and alliance instability to discuss advances, research gaps as well as new theoretical and methodological approaches to move the research on these topics forward. This PDW is designed to stimulate a highly interactive discussion with senior colleagues and peers to help participants identify emerging research opportunities and spark dialogue that can advance research on alliance dynamics and instability.
The following topics are intended to serve as a guiding framework for the round table discussions:
    (1) Antecedents of alliance instability
    (2) Evolution and dynamics of alliances
    (3) Consequences of alliance instability
You will have the opportunity to discuss theoretical and empirical gaps in this research domain with senior scholars as well as discuss current research projects relevant to the topic of the PDW. The panelists will also provide their feedback on the PDW participants' research ideas and research projects related to the topic of alliance dynamics and instability.

To facilitate close personal engagement, we strongly encourage registration for prospective PDW participants who would like to submit their research ideas/research project descriptions (1-3 pages) for feedback. Pre-registration allows the panelists to prepare their feedback and PDW organizers to pair the participants with the panelists of their choice and to reserve a restaurant for the informal lunch. Please email alliancedynamics17@uoregon.edu and include the following information:
    (1) Your name, email address, telephone number, and institutional affiliation
    (2) Your curriculum vitae
    (3) An abstract or description of research proposal or active research project you wish to receive feedback on (1-3 pages maximum)
    (4) Let us know if you would be interested in an informal lunch if PDW timing/schedule permits
We encourage you to register early to guarantee consideration. The deadline for submitting research idea/research project descriptions is
July 14th, 2017. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the organizers Olga Bruyaka (olga.bruyaka@mail.wvu.edu) and Ralph Heidl (heidl@uoregon.edu).
