    Please post the following.....

The Business Policy and Strategy Division will once again sponsor a Mid-Career Workshop for the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Chicago. The Mid-Career Workshop is for BPS faculty members with at least five years of academic experience. The objective of the workshop is to facilitate networking and discussion around the unique professional challenges, problems, and opportunities facing BPS faculty moving into their "Associate Professor Years."

At the 2009 Workshop in Chicago, participants will hear from a panel of distinguished senior faculty members including Javier Gimeno (INSEAD), Bob Hoskisson (Rice University), Dave Ketchen (Auburn University), Nandini Rajagopalan (University of Southern California), and Jim Westphal (University of Michigan). These panelists will share their views on a number of topics including, among others, editorial roles, sabbaticals, executive education, and working with doctoral students.  Trevis Certo (Arizona State University) and Laszlo Tihanyi (Texas A&M University) are serving as this year's workshop coordinators. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, August 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency. After the presentations and discussion, we will break for a dinner and conversation at a nearby restaurant. Dinner will be sponsored by the Business Policy and Strategy Division of the Academy.

Due to the specific stage-of-career topics and the unique format of this workshop, participation is limited. To qualify for participation in the 2009 Mid-Career Workshop applicants: (1) Must be a current member of the Business Policy & Strategy Division; (2) Must have received his or her doctorate prior to July 2004; and, (3) Must have served as a faculty member for at least five years. In addition, a participant should have a record of commitment to teaching and research in the Strategy/Business Policy field. Priority for participation will go to applicants who have not previously participated in the Mid-Career Workshop. If you are interested in participating, please submit: (1) your current vitae and (2) a brief statement that you meet the participation qualifications noted above and, if accepted, that you will commit to attend the workshop. Please e-mail your application to Trevis Certo (trevis.certo@asu.edu) no later than June 15, 2009. Please also put "Mid Career Consortium Application" in the subject heading of your application e-mail. Participants will be notified of their selection to attend the workshop no later than July 1.
