Announcing the Launch of a New Journal
We are pleased to introduce a new essay-based journal, the Strategic Management Review (SMR).
The SMR will provide a forum to integrate insights from multiple disciplines to improve our understanding of the distinctive theoretical and practical contributions of strategic management. Ultimately, the objective of the journal is to facilitate the dissemination and translation of strategic management expertise to real-world, practical problems. The journal will be supported with a series of mini-conferences in the coming years.
The SMR aims to promote insights on core questions in the strategic management field through impactful essays. These essays can take many forms, including (a) essays on the theoretical foundations of strategic management and the theoretical perspectives emanating from the field, (b) scholarly exchanges, (c) thought pieces dealing with managerial practice or public policy, (d) methodological primers on advances relevant for strategic management research, (e) state-of-the-art reviews or research retrospectives, and (f) forward-looking literature critiques.
In an effort to accomplish our objectives, we have developed a review process that seeks to preserve an author's views and voice in published manuscripts. The peer review process of the SMR is therefore distinctive, reflecting the journal's aims and this basic philosophy, and complementary to the approaches followed by other journals. In particular, we will conduct developmental reviews in a single-blind manner based on a set of suitable reviewers identified by both the author(s) and the editors.
