    Ohio University's College of Business invites applications and nominations for the position of Chairperson for the Management Systems Department, beginning July 2009. 

     

    The Ohio University College of Business has an earned reputation in academic excellence, innovative learning and global experience, as well as small class sizes and close relationships among faculty, students, and the community. The vibrant, residential campus attracts approximately 20,000 top quality students from all 50 states and 100 countries.  The College of Business employs 54 tenure track faculty and enrolls 1800+ undergraduate students and 200+ MBA students through selective admissions.  Its distinctive undergraduate program has received AACSB awards for its integrated teaching model emphasizing interdisciplinary, project-based team-teaching using real clients.  An award winning global competitiveness program extends this model into a summer international consulting experience involving academic partners and students in more than a dozen countries. At the graduate level the college maintains a 13-month residential MBA program, a Professional MBA, and international MBA programs.

    The Management Systems Department has a diverse group of faculty in management, as well as faculty in business law, professional communications, and quantitative business analysis.  The department offers majors in both Management & Strategic Leadership and Business Pre-Law, provides significant support to the major in International Business, and is developing a Certificate Program in Leadership.  The Department plays a significant role in the delivery of the College of Business core curriculum, the delivery of all MBA programs, in providing service courses to other units within the University, and in developing innovative approaches to teaching.  Commensurate with these expectations, the candidate must have demonstrated:

    ·         Academic excellence sufficient to qualify for tenure at a senior rank including an earned doctorate in management or a closely related field

    ·         Record of accomplishment in research

    ·         Record of service that encompasses the ability and willingness to mentor faculty for professional development

    ·         Ability to communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, business leaders, alumni and diverse constituencies while remaining committed to shared governance

    ·         Personal integrity and the capability to develop and maintain mutual respect and trust in all stakeholder relationships on and off campus

    In order to facilitate interviews at the Academy of Management Conference, all applications should be received by September 15, 2008.  However, applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is hired.  The expected start date is July 2009.
