    Cases on Strategic Systems Design and Managerial Approaches
    A book edited by Prof. Nouha Taifi
    Industrial Engineering Department, Mohammadia School of Engineering,
    University Mohammed V, Morocco

    To be published by IGI Global: http://www.igi-
    global.com/requests/details.asp?ID=409

    Introduction
    Every organization or system has processes and procedures for operations.
    In order to understand them, design concepts are used to model research
    and business processes to end up with clear maps of systems and
    organizations. New designs can encourage new systems to be developed, and
    new methodologies can lead to new designs. Further investigation into
    strategic research, management or systems design can lead to the
    development of new theories, and this is the objective of the book.

    Overall Objective of the Book
    The objective of the book chapters will be to present practical cases on
    strategic research, system and management design but also to provide
    concrete new theories derived from each book chapter. The nature of the
    research, management and systems in different contexts of the book
    chapters will provide new approaches and methodologies derived from their
    design. The book chapter will need to consist of quantitative or
    qualitative research or both. In particular, the editors are interested in
    two theories in particular—complexity and chaos theory—that may underlie
    the applications and case studies and inspire new theories and models in
    this book.

    Target Audience
    The potential audience of this book will be from the disciplines of
    management and engineering sciences. The book will also be a support to
    lectures by professors, a source for university students and researchers,
    and a guide for practitioners.

    Recommended topics include, but are not limited to the following:
    - Managerial practices based on Complexity theory;
    - Managerial practices based on Chaos theory;
    - Managerial practices based on simultaneous use of Complexity and Chaos
    theory;
    - System design development through analysis;
    - Systems architectures, applications and improvements;
    - Research practices and design;
    - Cross-comparison of management and design indifferent contexts;
    - Cross-comparison of management and design in organizations.

    Submission Procedure

    Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before February
    28, 2012, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and
    concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals
    will be notified by March 15th, 2012 about the status of their proposals
    and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by
    June 30th, 2012. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind
    review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for
    this project.
