    Apologies for cross postings.

SMA's Pre-Doctoral Consortium will be held at the Marriott City Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday October 26, 2016 as part of the Annual Meeting of the Southern Management Association.  The SMA Annual Meeting runs from October 27 - 29, 2016 and consortium participants are encouraged, but not required, to attend the remainder of the meeting.

The Pre-Doctoral Consortium is a program designed to help those who are committed to, or are seriously considering, earning a doctoral degree in management.  The goals of the consortium include: (1) helping students to gain a better understanding of key factors to consider in applying to doctoral programs, and (2) to provide students with a "realistic preview" of life as a doctoral student and faculty member. The consortium will feature nationally recognized scholars and current doctoral students who will lead panel sessions and round table discussions on such topics as "How to decide which programs are right for me," "The ins and outs of grad school applications," and "Career options post-PhD".

In addition, opportunities for networking with current doctoral students, faculty, and PhD program directors are built into the program.  SMA will provide breakfast and lunch on the day of the consortium, as well.  If that is not enough encouragement to attend, SMA is awarding $500 stipends to help with travel expenses*. Participants must attend the entire one-day consortium program in order to receive their funding.

The deadline for completed consortium applications is JUNE 30th, 2016. All applicants must submit:

    (a)  An application form (click on link below to proceed to application).

    (b)  A personal statement that describes why the applicant feels this consortium would be valuable to him/her.  Please attach a Word Document or pdf (please limit this statement to 300 words or less).

    (c)  A recommendation letter from a current or former university faculty member.

    (d)  A copy of the applicants vita (resume).

    (e)  A copy of the applicants driver's license or other government issued photo ID that verifies applicant will have attained the age of 21 on or before October 26, 2016.

Applications may be submitted at: http://ow.ly/4mJhyD

If you have questions about the application process, please contact Dr. Lance Frazier, Pre-Doctoral Consortium Coordinator (Creighton University) by email at LanceFrazier@creighton.edu, or by phone at (402) 280-1192.

    * Funding opportunities are limited to 20 participants. All applicants are invited to attend but if more applications are received than consortium slots, the coordinator will evaluate the quality of the application submissions to determine funding.
