    POSITION IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP / STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

     

    The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University seeks a technology entrepreneurship researcher-teacher.

     

    Founded in 1977, the WSU Center for Entrepreneurship is one of the oldest entrepreneurship centers in the United States. The Center, along with WSU Ventures, provides support and education for Barton School of Business students, non-business majors, staff and faculty, and entrepreneurs throughout Kansas. Creating new technology-based products and evaluating these products for commercial applications are central to the mission of Wichita State University, the Center for Entrepreneurship, and WSU Ventures.

     

    This full-time, tenure-eligible position available in the Department of Management can be hired at the assistant or associate professor rank. The successful candidate will teach courses in Entrepreneurship (including technology commercialization) and Strategic Management at the undergraduate and/or graduate (MBA) level. The position will begin in August 2019.


    RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level (MBA) courses; engaging in research leading to journal publications and other scholarly output; serving on faculty committees and other committees; participating in other appropriate service and professional activities. The teaching load will consist of a minimum of 6 hours per semester-typically this is a 2 course/semester assignment. The successful candidate is expected to be present on-campus during the academic year.


    QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold an earned doctorate (PhD or DBA) from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited college of business in the field of Management or a closely related area. Applicants at an advanced stage of their doctoral studies (ABD) will be considered with demonstrated capability of completing degree requirements before the effective date of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate research potential and be able to present evidence of teaching and classroom effectiveness. Additional required qualifications are excellent oral and written communication skills and successful experience with diverse populations. The Barton School values previous professional or management experience, especially with respect to innovation and commercialization that is consistent with the strategic direction of Wichita State University, the Center for Entrepreneurship, and WSU Ventures.

     

    For appointment at the Associate Professor level, in addition to the qualifications already listed, candidates should have a well-established record of research, several years of successful university teaching experience, and a history of academic service.

    SALARYAACSB competitive, dependent upon qualifications. Summer research support may be available on a competitive basis.
