The Department of Management & Marketing in the School of Business at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in Strategic Management beginning in August 2011. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in Strategic Management at the undergraduate and MBA levels. Secondary teaching responsibilities may be in the areas of entrepreneurship or organizational behavior. Screening of applicants will begin on January 31, 2011 and will continue until the position is filled.
Applicants are sought at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. All candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and scholarly research. A record of successful teaching experience and strong potential for scholarly research is needed for the Assistant Professor level; successful teaching experience and a strong record of scholarly research is required for the Associate Professor level. Candidates must have Ph.D. with a primary specialization in Strategic Management from an AACSB-accredited institution; ABD's close to completion may be considered for the rank of Instructor/Assistant Professor. At SIUE, good teaching is of prime importance and all faculty members are expected to be conscientious and dedicated to student learning. The normal teaching load is five courses (15 credit hours) per academic year. Additionally, research leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals is required for promotion and tenure at SIUE. The university supports research efforts through research grants, and by providing research assistants, student workers, and other resources.
The Department of Management & Marketing has 15 tenure-track faculty members with a diversity of educational backgrounds, skills, and experiences in marketing, management, strategy, business ethics, operations management, human resources, and organizational behavior. Recent hires to the department have come from strong Ph.D. programs at universities such as Iowa, Georgia State, and Wisconsin.
The School of Business is AACSB-accredited and offers undergraduate degrees in accountancy, business administration, computer and management information systems, and business economics and finance. Graduate degrees are offered in business administration (MBA), accountancy, computer and management information systems, economics and finance, and marketing research. There are approximately 1100 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students studying business at SIUE.
SIUE's large and attractive campus of 2700 acres of rolling hills, woodlands, and small lakes is located about 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis. SIUE recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, and the campus has received various awards for architectural excellence. SIUE enrolls approximately 14,000 students.
