Rice University has two open rank tenure track positions in Strategic
Management, starting Fall 2007. The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of
Management recently expanded its programs and faculty with the addition of
several talented researchers, such as Margarethe Wiersema. Faculty members

Qualifications. The position will be filled by an individual actively
conducting research who can teach core and elective courses in strategy,
has a disciplinary background in strategy, organization theory, or
economics and holds a strong scholarly research record appropriate to rank
as evidenced by publications in premier journals of the field.
Demonstrated research and teaching excellence in the area of strategic
management is required.
Faculty members are expected to be collegial and contribute to the
development of the Jones Graduate School of Management (JGSM), Rice
University, and our multiple stakeholders. Salary and summer support are
competitive with other major research universities.
The Jones Graduate School of Management's MBA program is ranked 41st in
the US by the Financial Times and 44th by US News and World Report,
reflecting the continued upward trajectory of the school. The Executive
MBA program is ranked #32 in the US by the Financial Times and identified
as the best in Texas and the Southwest. The Rice MBA prepares students
for leadership through its unique Action Learning Projects that provide
students with an applied, integrative experience that draws on all of the
core business disciplines. While in the MBA program, the students have
first hand consulting experience by working with the globally connected
companies that dominate the Houston business community. Houston is second

world in the energy industry, and has the world's largest medical center
which employs over 50,000 people.
The Jones School, under the current leadership of Dean Bill Glick and
through the generous support of a vibrant business community intends to
further build its academic reputation. Recent achievements include the
naming of the recently completed state of the art facility - Janice and
Robert McNair Hall, the addition of senior faculty and launching of the
professional MBA degree program.
