The Universiteit van Amsterdam Business School provides academic degrees in
Management, Finance and Accounting. It also conducts internationally
recognised research in these areas.
The Amsterdam Business Schools growing Management group currently has the
following vacancies:
One Assistant/Associate Professor of Management, with strong knowledge of
Research Methods
One Assistant/Associate Professor of Human Resource Management
Full-time
Position 1:
The successful applicant will do research in one of the areas covered by
the management group, and conduct and coordinate teaching in the area of
research methods at both the Bachelor and Master level. Candidates can come
from any of the fields of expertise of the current management group, which
includes strategy, organisation and marketing. Coordination skills and a
strong affinity with research methods are vital, as the successful
candidate will have an important role in further developing the Business
Schools curriculum in this area.
Position 2:
The successful applicant will be an active researcher in the area of Human
Resource Management (HRM) (broadly defined) and will conduct and coordinate
teaching on HRM at both the Bachelor and Master level.
The assistant/associate professors will be part of a larger management
group, which includes strategy, organisation and marketing. Research staff
at the full professor level include Neil Anderson (human resource
management), Ans Kolk (sustainable management), Deanne Den Hartog
(organisational behaviour) and Nachoem Wijnberg (cultural entrepreneurship
and management).
Requirements
Requirements for position 1 are a PhD in one of the areas covered in the
management group, the proven ability to initiate and undertake research of
international standards in this area, the ability to stimulate and
encourage the research of others, demonstrated teaching excellence,
affinity with and strong knowledge of research methods in business and
management research, the willingness and ability to coordinate teaching in
the methods area.
Requirements for position 2 are a PhD in HRM or a related area, the proven
ability to initiate and undertake research of international standards in
HRM, the ability to stimulate and encourage the research of others,
demonstrated teaching excellence, and the willingness and ability to
coordinate teaching in the HRM area.
All applicants should also have published research in international
respected journals and have the ability to teach in English. Short listed
candidates will be asked to give a research seminar. If the appointee does
not speak Dutch she/he is expected to acquire a reasonable knowledge of the
language within two years. Assistant professor appointments will usually
involve tenure-track positions, with an appointment for initially three
years, to become tenured upon good research and teaching performance.

Appointment
The salary will be negotiated within the salary scales for
Assistant/Associate Professors at Dutch universities and in accordance with
the collective agreement regulating employment conditions at Dutch
universities. The date on which the appointment starts will be determined
by mutual agreement, preferably by the middle of 2006.
Dutch scales for Assistant Professors run from 2,191 (minimum scale 10)
to 4,605 (max scale 12) gross per month. For Associate Professors they
run from 4,100 (minimum scale 13) to 5,489 (max scale 14) gross per
month. Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants and the
University offers a very attractive pension scheme.
