Announcing a free on-line textbook for students, faculty, and
    practitioners:

An Integrated Tactical and Strategic Management Process (TSMP)

    Available at: www.albarnhill.com

Researched, developed and provided by Al Barnhill, Ph.D.
President, Able Administration Ltd., Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

    Distinctive features

Substance – The TSMP provides an extraordinary breadth, depth and
integration of tactical and strategic management concepts, theories,
research, taxonomies, models, ways and other content essential for
optimally studying and managing any size or type of organization.

Processes – The TSMP provides 5 Stages (v 2 or 3 that are typical in other
strategic management texts) comprised of 27 Activities that are aligned in
tactical and strategic streams that flow forward over short, medium and
    long periods of time.

Active, not static – The TSMP is based on two main streams of Activities
that flow through five Stages, feedback loops and fast forward freeways.
It provides a basic framework for simulations and applications by managers
    and academics.

Map – The TSMP diagrams a functional approach to tactical and strategic
management that starts with Activity 1, Purpose, presents 25 other
substantive Activities (as needed) and ends with Activity 27, Utilize
Contingency Plans before “rolling forward” into the next rotation or
    tactical/strategic period.

Science of management – Applied sciences are based, in part, on valid and
reliable processes. The TSMP is intended to contribute to the scientific
development of systems management by providing a process that has been
specified and applied in a variety of organizations. In effect, it has
achieved some reliability and validity in its applications and makes a
substantive, structured contribution to management knowledge.
