While it is relatively accepted that markets develop through interactions of social actors over time, there is wide variety in the research on these interactive processes and their outcomes. This variation includes the underlying assumptions and theoretical perspectives, focal actors, empirical contexts, and research methods. This PDW is an opportunity for scholars interested in processes of social construction to talk across distinct perspectives and learn from each other to identify opportunities for further research.
Four prominent scholars will help to frame the conversation by briefly sharing their particular perspectives on the social construction of markets. This will be followed by Q&A in which you can voice your perspective and ask questions as we try to cultivate a conversation about what we collectively know – and what gaps persist in our understanding – about social construction of the market.
We hope you'll join us Saturday, August 6 to make this an exciting discussion.
