The Department of Management of Organizations (MGTO)

u The Department is a leading intellectual center for management
research, with a focus on the Pacific Rim, especially China. It was
founded in July 1994, three years after the founding of the University and
the Business School. Over the past ten years, the department has built a
group of diverse and high-quality faculty members whose expertise covers
such areas as organization theory, business strategy, organizational
behavior, and human resource management. To facilitate intellectual
exchange and knowledge diffusion, the department played host to over 60
visiting scholars who spent between two months to two years teaching and
researching on campus. It has organized two international research
conferences, numerous workshops, and established the Hang Lung Center for
Organization Research (HLCOR) and co-sponsored a new journal Management
and Organization Review. It also has established a long-term program of
collaborative research with organization researchers in China. Faculty
members consistently publish their works in top journals such as Academy
of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization
Science, and Strategic Management Journal, while some of them are,
currently, editorial board members of Academy of Management Journal,
