We are delighted to invite you to the following BPS teaching PDW:
"Beyond the Case Method"
Saturday, August 6th
8:00am to 10:00am
El Capitan AB at the Hilton Anaheim
This PDW features innovative approaches to teaching strategy that enhance or go beyond the traditional case method. The primary objectives of this PDW are twofold. First, it will introduce six new approaches to teaching foundational strategy concepts that can be incorporated into existing core strategy courses or serve as the basis for strategy electives. Second, it will provide participants with the opportunity to engage in an interactive roundtable discussion with the presenters and organizers to learn how to integrate these approaches into their own courses.
The PDW will be organized into two one-hour parts, with each part consisting of 10-minute presentations by three speakers followed by 20-minute roundtable discussions. Participants will be free to join discussions on teaching approaches that are most relevant to their own interests. The PDW will conclude with summary comments from the presenters and organizers.
The speakers and their approaches featured in the PDW are:
- Ramon Casadesus-Masanell (HBS): "Strategic Brew" simulation
- Sarah Kaplan (Toronto): Corporation 360°
- Victor Bennett (Duke): Data-driven cases
- Felipe Csaszar (Michigan): Strategic foresight exercise
- Aija Leiponen (Cornell): Case crowdsourcing
- Russ Coff (Wisconsin): MicroTech exercise
We look forward to seeing you in Anaheim.
Best regards,
Felipe Csaszar (Michigan), Saikat Chaudhuri (Wharton), and Michael Roach (Cornell)
