Unique firm identifier in TRI data?

    I want to merge data from the US EPA Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) with financial databases such as Compustat? However, the only unique firm identifier in the TRI data is the D&B (DUNS) number, which Compustat does not use.

     

    If you have used the TRI data in this way in the past, how did you merge it?
