We are considering introducing the CapSIM Comp-XM competency exam as part of our AACSB assessment project.  Has anyone had experience with using this test that they would be willing to share.  Alternatively, are there other undergrad business program competency exams you have used?  Please reply to me privately if you wish and I will summarize the information for the list.

I have not actually used it yet. I evaluated it extensively while trying to implement at my last University in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Germany</st1:country-region></st1:place>. I have now moved to the <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Wisconsin</st1:placename> – <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Superior</st1:city></st1:place> and I intend to implement it in the spring semester. Hello Mark,

I've used CompXM for 2 years (with MBA students). Our department elected to use Comp-XM as part of our self-assessment for Regional Accreditation (NW). We are too small for AACSB but still need to address assessment and document our value added.

I'd be happy to discuss our/my limited experience more if it would be helpful.

Thanks for the information about what you folks are doing. DO you use the CAPSIM simulation as well?

    Hello Mark,

Yes, we've used the Capsim simulation for seven years with our MBA "Capstone" course (for us framed in strategy, but other professors use Capsim with other courses). After the students have run Capsim with teams they do the individual CompXM. Their score on CompXM is part of their grade and we have just started to use the scores as part of our departmental assessment.

    Hi Tracy,

Hope you do not mind me taking the liberty of touching base with you regarding the Capsim simulation.  I will be using it next semester and I am trying to educate myself. I just wanted to pick your brain on how I can get up to speed on it given that I have never used a simulation.  Would you be willing to share your experience with me?  If so, I would like to call you at a time that is convenient for you.  Thanks in advance.
