    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

    STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

     

    THE POSITION:  The Management and Marketing Department in the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">School</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position in Strategic Management for Fall 2008.  Primary teaching responsibilities are Strategic Management courses at the bachelors and masters levels.  Screening of applications will begin September 15, 2007 and continue until the position is filled.  A limited number of interviews will be conducted at the <st1:placetype w:st="on">Academy</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Management</st1:placename> meeting in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Philadelphia</st1:city></st1:place>.  Electronic submission of letters of application and CVs is preferred.

     

    APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicants are sought at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank.  A record of demonstrated teaching excellence and strong potential for research/publication is needed for the Assistant level; demonstrated teaching excellence and strong record of research/publication is needed for the Associate level.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. with primary specialization in Strategic Management.  ABDs close to completion may be considered for the rank of Instructor/Assistant Professor.

     

    THE UNIVERSITY:  Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is located on 2600 acres of woodland within the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">St. Louis</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">Missouri</st1:state></st1:place> metropolitan area.  It is about 20 minutes from downtown <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">St. Louis</st1:city></st1:place>.  The campus has an enrollment of approximately 13,000 students.

     

    THE <st1:placetype w:st="on">SCHOOL</st1:placetype> OF <st1:placename w:st="on">BUSINESS</st1:placename>:  The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">School</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> is AACSB-accredited and offers undergraduate degrees in Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Management Information Systems, and Business Economics and Finance and Masters degrees in Business Administration, Accountancy, Economics and Finance, Computer Management Information Systems, and Marketing Research.  There are approximately 1150 undergraduate and 400 graduate students.  The BSBA program is built on a broad foundation of knowledge from the social sciences and liberal arts; the MBA is offered both on-and-off-campus.  The School provides support and reward for scholarly research while encouraging, supporting, and rewarding innovation and excellence in teaching.  Faculty research is supported by release time, University-funded seed grants, computing resources, graduate assistants, and administrative support.  The School houses the <st1:placename w:st="on">Entrepreneurship</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype>, <st1:placename w:st="on">International</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Trade</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype>, Office of Economic Education, and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Small</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Development</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype></st1:place>, all providing academic-industry linkages and professional opportunities for faculty.

     

    THE MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING DEPARTMENT:  The Department has 14 full-time faculty with a diversity of educational backgrounds, skills, and experience in Marketing, Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Human Resources, and Organization Behavior and has been very successful in recruiting excellent new faculty as other faculty have retired.  Undergraduate specializations in Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, and International Management are offered through the department, as well as the Master of Marketing Research Degree.
