Dear Page and All,
Your paper does indeed sound interesting. A session at AOM along the same
lines reported the same sort of variance in content you speak of. I'd
personally love to see what you've written, as the general sense of disarray
in strategy (after its long prominence as an AACSB required course) seems to
me to be reflective of the lack of a dominant framework (we've got several)
or a dominant approach (we've got "more behavioral and cognitive" all the
way through to financial analysis and econometrics mascarading as
"strategy"), with the burgeoning importance of entrepreneurship and its
internal corporate relatives looming. This is a great time for us to be
coming together to discuss what should be included, what key approaches and
content need to be recognized, and how better to teach -- especially given a
general lack of scientific and quantitative skills and comfort in many
students, from undergrads to executive MBAs.
Regards,
