    Junior Professorship in Qualitative Methods in Management Research

    The successful applicant will be required to do research and teach in the aforementioned field.

    In accordance with article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz), the successful candidate must have a Ph.D. reflecting her or his outstanding academic qualification. Previous post-graduate academic employment - both prior and subsequent to the conferral of the doctoral degree - should not exceed a total of six years.

    The appointee will have an outstanding track record of university teaching and research, preferably with a strong international component. She or he should focus in her research on network analysis or organization, HR, or management research. The successful candidate will be highly competent in qualitative methods of data collection and analysis, take empirical approaches to both teaching and research, and have experience with sponsored research.

    Teaching responsibilities will include courses for students in bachelor's and master's degree programs in Business Administration and Management & Marketing respectively, and within the doctoral program Research on Organizational Paths (www.pfadkolleg.de). The appointee will be expected to cooperate closely, and in an interdisciplinary fashion, with colleagues at the School of Business & Economics as well as in other schools of the university - especially through our collaborative research centers and other joint research efforts. She or he should further be willing to take on administrative tasks within the academic institutions concerned.

    In general, the language of instruction is German, but some teaching may be conducted in English. A non-German-speaking appointee will need to be able to teach in German within two years.

    The vacancy is a position with limited tenure at the rank of W1. The successful candidate will be appointed as a public servant as of April 1, 2009, for the initial duration of three years. Provided that her or his performance is thereafter evaluated positively, employment will be extended by another three years.
