    Position Description- Assistant Professor in Healthcare Management

    Rockhurst University

     

    The Helzberg School of Management at Rockhurst University, an AACSB-International accredited school in Kansas City, MO, anticipates an open tenure-track Assistant position in the area of healthcare management, organizational behavior and/or policy beginning June, 2008.  

     

    While the Helzberg School offers undergraduate, MBA and Executive MBA degrees; this candidate's primary responsibility will be with our MBA for Healthcare Professionals programs. Rockhurst offers a joint MBA/Medical School Degree with a local medical school; as well with medical residency programs. In addition, we work in many collaborative management programs with the nursing and occupational therapy schools. The selected candidate will also teach within our other business degree programs as needed.

     

    Qualifications:  A doctorate in Management or closely related field with a concentration/specialty in some aspect of health care administration, policy, or management.  ABDs scheduled to receive their PhD within the next year will be considered.  Previous health industry experience, as well as a demonstrated teaching ability as evidenced by at least one year experience at the university level is preferred.

     

    The selected candidate will be required to meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. on the date the appointment is scheduled to begin. Selected candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English.

     

    Responsibilities:  Successful applicants will be expected to teach 18 hours per academic year (typically a 3 + 3 schedule) and maintain a productive research program, as well as contribute to the service needs of the department and University.  As a unique feature to this position- the selected candidate's teaching will occur during the summer and fall terms. Thus, the new hire will start the first of June, 2008.  He or she will then have the spring semester (Jan-May) off for research and other related items. Supplemental research funding is available.
