Position Description:
The position is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the
Department of Management Studies in the area of strategic management
and organization theory at either the instructor or assistant professor
level. The department is located in the Labovitz School of Business
and Economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth. The individual
hired for this position will have responsibilities in teaching,
research and service.
Position Requirements:
Required: Applicants must be ABD (with a clear plan for completion by
September 1, 2008) from a business Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree program that
requires as part of its completion a minimum three year full-time
residency and empirically-based dissertation with curricular emphasis
or documented research in Strategic Management or Organization Theory
from an AACSB-International accredited school or a major provincial
university. Evidence of potential for scholarship is essential also,
as is the demonstrated commitment to a Strategic Management and/or
Organization Theory research agenda. If the candidate is ABD for more
than two years, there must be evidence of a submission of a manuscript
to a refereed journal in the area of Strategic Management and/or
Organization Theory. Applicants must have exhibited abilities, skills
and enthusiasm consistent with teaching excellence and instructional
innovation. They must be interested in using technology in instruction
and must demonstrate evidence of communication skills appropriate to a
faculty position. The candidate must have a documented willingness and
ability to teach Strategic Management, Organization Theory, and
Management courses. Applicants must exhibit a willingness to fulfill
service responsibilities/expectations to colleagues, the department,
School, campus, community and professional organizations. The
willingness and capability to advise and work with students and student
organizations are essential.
Preferred: Business Ph.D. or D.B.A. with curricular emphasis in
Strategic Management or Organization Theory from an AACSB-International
accredited school or a major provincial university and a documented
research record of published refereed articles in journals in the area
of Strategic Management and/or Organization Theory averaging one
refereed journal publication for each year post-terminal degree.
Applicants must have taught one or more Strategic Management,
Organization Theory, and Management courses. Candidates will have
business and management experience in industry.
