    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT –

    DEAN, GATTON COLLEGE OF BUSINESS at the UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY

     

    The University of Kentucky invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Gatton College of Business and Economics.  For more than 80 years, the College has been preparing men and women for today's business world. The Gatton College is one of 18 colleges that make up the University of Kentucky, an exciting and dynamic public research university of over 28,000 students situated in the heart of Lexington, Kentucky, ranked one of the best cities in America in which to live.

     

    The Gatton College of Business and Economics is an AACSB-accredited institution with 85 full-time faculty and approximately 2,800 students and offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs.  Among the faculty lines are 27 endowed positions.  Recently launched programs include an innovative eleven-month MBA program and the unique Global Scholars undergraduate program aimed to prepare students to become world-ready.  More information on the Gatton College is available at: www.gatton.uky.edu

     

    As the chief executive officer of the Gatton College, the Dean is expected to lead the College's efforts to pursue a vision for achieving distinction, academic excellence, and strategic success.  Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will be responsible for all aspects of the business school's academic programs, operations, financial and human resources, strategic relationships, and fund-raising efforts. Private funds have been raised or pledged to defray a portion of the construction cost of a planned new 214,000 square-foot building.  The dean will also be responsible for working with university leadership to secure the remaining funding from the state, currently a priority in the university's capital budget request. 

     

    To succeed, the dean must possess the capacity to develop and execute a collective vision in collaboration with others, strong interpersonal and communication skills, administrative experience, an aptitude for fund raising, and the ability to form effective internal and external partnerships to advance the mission and vision of the College.  The academic credentials to qualify for a tenured appointment as full professor are preferred; a distinguished record of accomplishment in other fields will be considered.
