    EGOS 2012 – Helsinki, Finland

    Competitive Dynamics Sub-Theme

We would like to announce a unique sub-theme for the 2012 European Group of Organizational Studies (EGOS) Colloquium to be held July 5-7, 2012 in Helsinki/Finland.

The sub-theme title is: "Competitive Dynamics: Exploring New Textures and Deep-Structure Processes of Action."

We hope to attract contributions from scholars worldwide representing an eclectic range of disciplines – strategy, OT, research methods, managerial cognition, I/O, social or Gestalt psychology, social networks, engineering, etc. – to tackle a variety of unresolved or yet-to-be-addressed questions including:

    ·         What is competitive action? – Do competitive actions or action patterns exhibit meaningful, salient design properties such as texture, intentionality, harmony, resonance, hue, pitch, half-life, plasticity, symbiosis, Feng Shui, refraction, cleavage, and other attributes?

    ·         What are yet-to-be-discovered drivers of action? – Is the design or intentionality of individual actions or action patterns driven by managerial cognitive alertness and creativity, hubris, personality traits of decision-makers, organizational identity, interorganizational connections, tension, or other deep-structure attributes and processes?

    ·         What are new/alternative lenses through which to view action? – Can competitive dynamics scholars develop new methodological lenses and alternative research designs perhaps drawn from other disciplines and fields that may be ideally suited to explore the design attributes of actions, action patterns, and the full range of organizational processes that drive action?

The due date for your initial paper proposals is January 16, 2012. If accepted, the due date for your full paper is May 31, 2012.
