Dear BPS member,
Join a new scholarly conversation at AoM!
The Academy of Management has recently approved the new interest group: "Strategizing Activities & Practice" (SAP). Despite being a separate IG we obviously have a lot in common with BPS. In particular, we share an interest in the various processes of strategy formation. With our particular concern both for the micro-aspects of strategizing as well as for the influences of the wider societal institutions, we offer a complementary view to research within BPS. If you are interested in these aspects, you might consider joining the SAP Interest Group (either as one of your free Division/Interest Group memberships or as an additional membership).
So Join the SAP IG if you would like to:
* Help build a bigger and stronger community of strategic management scholars at the Academy of Management.
* Push the research envelope. Account for the social or organizational face of strategic management. See strategy as something that people do and not just something that organizations have.
* Use a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives to study strategic management (including practice, institutional, discourse, sensemaking, routines, and cognition).
* Look deeper within organizations. See beyond top management teams to consider the strategic work of middle managers, consultants and non executives. How do such things as knowledge, identity and emotions affect the strategic work of organizations and individuals?
You can find all details on the SAP Interest Group and its different activities on our new website at http://sap.aomonline.org
HOW TO JOIN:
(1) You can join SAP when you renew your AoM membership. For most people, this is during the spring or summer. The Academy will send you an email reminder when you are in your "renewal period" (i.e., 90 days before the expiration date).
* To renew your membership, log in at: https://secure.aomonline.org/RenewOnline/main.asp
* Press the "Make Changes before Renewing" button to choose a new interest group.
* Under the heading "Interest Groups," locate "Strategizing Activities and Practices" (code = D25).
* Check the box next to the group name.
(2) You can join SAP any time, BEFORE or AFTER your membership renewal period: Simply send a short email to the AoM membership office at membership@aom.pace.edu: "Dear Sir/Madam, Please add the SAP Interest Group to my Academy memberships. Regards, XXX". (Note that the membership of two Divisions/Interest Groups is free. For any additional memberships the Academy charges a minimal fee of $ 5).
