    Dear BPS member,

You are cordially invited to the PDW on 'New Directions in Research on Strategizing Activities and Practice' taking place during the Academy of Management Conference at: Boston Hynes Convention Center, Room 312, Saturday, 4 August, 8:00- 10:00AM.

This PDW focuses on 'what we have learnt and what we have still to learn' in several substantive, empirical topic areas of strategy-as-practice research. These substantive areas include the practice of strategic planning, the strategic role of middle managers, the strategy profession, the identity of strategists, participation in strategy, and strategizing text and talk. The PDW's purpose is to enthuse, guide and link the 'next generation' of strategy-as-practice researchers. For each topic area, speakers will outline the research achievement so far and discuss the potential agenda going forward. These introductory talks will provide a broad overview of each topic area and identify promising new themes or gaps that might help guide future research. After the talks, participants will break into roundtables with the speakers by topic area to share interests, generate interesting research questions and propose appropriate methodologies for addressing them. Based on these discussions, facilitators will report back the three or four most promising opportunities for future research, in terms of questions or methods, to share in plenary. The workshop will conclude with a commentary from an editor of the Strategic Management Journal on how the discussed Strategy-as-Practice research relates to other current issues in strategy research and how it might best contribute more widely. Participants will come away from this PDW recharged with ideas and approaches for engaging in strategy-as-practice research at the cutting edge of the field's development.

Registration is not required, but we would appreciate if you could let us know you are attending at: Sotirios.Paroutis@wbs.ac.uk
