Dear AOM BPS-NET ListServe,
Could you please post the following call for nominations for the SEI Doctoral Consortium 2017? Thank you.
Dear colleagues,
We invite nominations from faculty at business schools in Europe for their students to participate in the SEI doctoral consortium. The consortium seeks to bring together a select group of doctoral students conducting research in the areas of strategy, entrepreneurship and/or innovation.
Formed in 2011, the SEI Consortium is an initiative of faculty of Europe's leading business schools, including London Business School, HEC Paris, Bocconi University, Copenhagen Business School, Imperial College London, and ETH Zurich to help advance the research frontier and stimulate the academic labour market. To this end, it supports an annual faculty workshop and a doctoral consortium. For these events, it brings together faculty from a broad range of European institutions, including those mentioned above, as well as from, for example, EPFL, SKEMA, Católica Lisbon, Frankfurt School of Management and Finance, University of Bath, IE Business School, KU Leuven, TUM, and many others.
The SEI Doctoral Consortium provides doctoral students at universities in Europe with a unique opportunity to present their dissertation stage research to, and receive developmental feedback from, leading strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship scholars, including the editors of many of the top journals in the field. Ample opportunities for informal mentoring and networking will be provided outside the formal student presentations, including coffee breaks, lunches and dinners.
The conference will start on Friday morning, September 15 and will finish Saturday, September 16, early afternoon. The consortium will be held at the University of Bath. For doctoral students selected to attend and their supervisor, the University of Bath will provide all meals and hotel accommodations for two nights; however, no refunds on travel costs are available. Faculty working in the area of strategy, entrepreneurship and innovation are also welcome to attend the consortium at their own expense.
Nominations should be made by the faculty rather than the student. Since the consortium is designed to help students develop their research, we prefer nominees whose research is beyond the thesis proposal stage. All nominees will be evaluated by a selection committee. Priority will be given to students who have not presented at a previous SEI consortium. The lead advisor to the selected students are strongly encouraged to attend.
To nominate a student, please provide a letter of support, which includes:
· Student name
· The stage he/she has reached in the doctoral program
· An indication whether a nominated student has presented previously at the SEI Consortium
· An indication whether the lead supervisor will commit to participate in the event
With your letter of support, please add:
· An up to date CV of the PhD student
· The student's extended abstract (max 2000 words)
All nominations should be sent no later than June 9, 2017 by email to sei2017@bath.ac.uk . We kindly ask you to send all documents in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format. Please note that nominees will not be given feedback on their abstract.
