    CALL FOR PAPERS

    The 1st Family Business and Corporate Control Workshop
    Milan, 26-28 June 2018

    Organized by Bocconi University (AIdAF-EY Chair in Strategy Management in Family Business, Department of Management and Technology and ICRIOS)

    The first edition of the Family Business and Corporate Control Workshop will be held at Bocconi University from the 26th to the 28th of June 2018.
    The Workshop will bring together academic scholars, practitioners and company executives to discuss recent theoretical and applied advances in the area of corporate control, with a specific focus on family businesses, private equity and institutional ownership. The event will feature academic sessions including a selected number of papers from established and junior scholars who will present their research projects and then engage in general discussions with the audience. Additionally, the event will include an industry panel during which academics and executives will engage in a discussion about the implications of family control and private equity for company performance and growth.
    Confirmed academic participants so far include Vicente Cuñat (London School of Economics), Randall Morck (University of Alberta), Yupana Wiwattanakantang (National University of Singapore), Mircea Epure (Universitat Pompeu Fabra), Francesco Castellaneta (SKEMA), Carlo Salvato (Bocconi University), Vikas Mehrotra (University of Alberta), Fausto Panunzi (Bocconi University), Josip Kotlar (Lancaster University), Alessandro Minichilli, (Bocconi University), Morten Bennedsen (University of Copenhagen and INSEAD), and Gianfranco Siciliano (Bocconi University). The industry panel will feature the participation of several entrepreneurs and owners of leading Italian companies. The general audience will include entrepreneurs, business students and faculty members from Italian and foreign universities.

    PAPER SUBMISSION
    We will consider unpublished papers that relate to the following topics: Family firms; Private equity and venture capital; Institutional ownership; Corporate governance; Human capital in executive and governance positions; Entrepreneurship. We welcome contributions that use theoretical, empirical and experimental approaches.

    The papers should be submitted by April 10, 2018. Authors will be notified by April 20, 2018. Please send your contribution in PDF format to FBCC@unibocconi.it and indicate whether or not you would require travel and/or accommodation support. There is no registration fee.
