    Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Strategy – University of Groningen

    The University of Groningen invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the department of Innovation Management & Strategy. We assume candidates to start by August 2017, or earlier if possible.

    We are seeking highly motivated candidates that demonstrate excellent research and teaching abilities and willingness to work with Ph.D. students and other members of the faculty. All applicants should have completed their Ph.D. or be close to complete it. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the department by publishing in top academic journals.

    The department is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business, which is ranked among the top performers in Europe in terms of research. Faculty members have published in journals such as the Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Management Science, Organization Science, MIS Quarterly, and Strategic Management Journal. Our faculty is actively involved in many scholarly associations (AOM, EGOS, EURAM, SMS) and also serve in editor and editorial board roles at leading journals.

    We will be conducting interviews at the Academy of Management meeting in Anaheim. Interested candidates should submit their packages through the AoM system by July 29th, 2016.

    POSITIONING
    The positions are situated in the Department of Innovation Management & Strategy, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen, The Netherlands.

    DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPARTMENT
    The Innovation Management & Strategy department, part of the Faculty of Economics and Business, contributes to several programs at the (honors) bachelor's, master's, research master's levels and to the Ph.D. program of the research school SOM. The department is responsible for the following three Master's of Science programs: change management, small business & entrepreneurship and strategic innovation management. The department covers a variety of interests and backgrounds, and embraces a number of different research approaches and methods with a keen focus on quality in research and teaching. We focus on applied as well as fundamental research questions.     DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
    The assistant professors contribute to research and teaching of the department. The applicants are specialized in any field of Strategy, Information Systems, Change Management, or Organization Theory.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements.
    1.    Ph.D. degree in business, economics, sociology or a related discipline, and expertise in Strategy & Organization.
    2.    A relevant publication record demonstrating candidate's ability (or potential) to publish in in top tier peer-reviewed journals.
    3.    Proven interest and ability in developing courses and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and in mentoring students.
    4.    A relevant international network.
    5.    A team player with good communication skills.


    Tenure track positions at the Faculty of Economics and Business are temporary positions subject to a tenure decision after a period of six years. Formal Tenure track requirements include criteria with respect to research prominence, teaching and external funds raising activities. During the Tenure track period 50% of the position is reserved for research and 50% is devoted to teaching activities.

    EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
    The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience. Yearly salary is starting from a minimum of € 47,450 (salary scale 11) to a maximum of € 73,800 gross (salary scale 12) for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees. (Monthly salary varies between € 3,400 and € 5,288 gross, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus).
     
    The candidate will be appointed for a period of six years, on the condition of a positive mid-term evaluation in the third year of employment. On the basis of a positive final evaluation in the sixth year of employment, you will be granted tenure.
     
    We assume candidates to start by August 2017, or preferably earlier if possible.
