2022 STR Career Award Winners
Please join us in congratulating the recipients of several prestigious career awards that were bestowed at the 2022 AOM Annual Conference.
Congratulations to Professor Kathleen Eisenhardt for receiving a 2022 STR Distinguished Scholarship Award. The STR Distinguished Scholarship Award recognizes strategic management scholars who have developed a core set of ideas that fundamentally advance research and understanding in the field of strategic management. The nominating individuals and awards committee recognized Professor Eisenhardt's pioneering work on multi-case methods, trailblazing work on dynamic capabilities, and the concept of simple rules. The division honored Professor Eisenhardt in Seattle at the Career Awards breakfast. A video honoring her will be uploaded to the STR YouTube channel in the coming week.
Congratulations to Professor Daniel Levinthal for receiving a 2022 STR Distinguished Scholarship Award. The nominating individuals and awards committee recognized Professor Levinthals path-breaking work on absorptive capacity, pioneering use of NK modeling techniques, and essential research on organizational adaptation, learning, search, and industry evolution. The division honored Professor Levinthal in Seattle at the Career Awards breakfast. A video honoring him will be uploaded to the STR YouTube channel in the coming week.
Congratulation to Margarethe Wiersema for receiving the 2022 STR Irwin Outstanding Educator Award. The 2022 Irwin award recognized an established strategy scholar who demonstrated outstanding commitment to MBA and executive education. Professor Wiersema was recognized for her extensive impact on MBA and executive programs. In particular, the nominating individuals and awards committee noted several indicators of the rigor and success of her classes, the breadth of outlets through which her research and teaching activities have been distributed, and the careful statements of support offered by administrators and students at her home institution. The division honored Professor Wiersema in Seattle at the Career Awards breakfast. A video honoring her will be uploaded to the STR YouTube channel in the coming week.
One of the ways to measure the quality and caliber of a field is to assess how much we appreciate each other and our successes. We may differ in our beliefs regarding the importance of particular research questions or assumptions regarding the world, but to continue to accumulate knowledge and make progress in our understanding of the distinctive contributions of the strategic management field, we must also appreciate each individual's contribution. What is remarkable about this group is that we get to signal our appreciation for a set of individuals that demonstrate multiple paths to extraordinary success. Congratulations to each of these amazing scholars for their varied contributions to strategic management.
