    Over two dozen dissertations were submitted to be considered for the 2022 STR Division Wiley Blackwell Outstanding Dissertation Award.  The overall quality of the dissertations was very high, making the selection of this year's finalists by the STR Research Committee very competitive.

    Please join me in congratulating the five finalists for the 2022 STR Wiley Blackwell Outstanding Dissertation Award:

    Agnes Guenther (Copenhagen Business School PhD), Postdoctoral Research Fellow, at the University of Utah

    Dissertation Title:  "Essays on Firm Strategy and Human Capital,"

    Primary Supervisor: Hans Christian (HC) Kongsted

    Assessment Committee Chair: Wolfgang Sofka

     

    Aldona Kapačinskaitė (London Business School PhD), Assistant Professor at Bocconi University

    Dissertation Title:  "Essays on Environmental Change and Innovation Strategy,"

    Dissertation Chair: Sendil Ethiraj

     

    Daniel B. Sands (New York University PhD), Assistant Professor at University College London

    Dissertation Title:  "Strategy, Evaluation, and Valuation in Markets: The role
    of third parties in the creation and capture of value    ,"

    Dissertation Chair:  Gino Cattani

     

    Christopher Sabel (BI Norwegian Business School PhD), University of Münster

    Dissertation Title: "Spinouts, Sharks, and Geneology: Established firms
    as resource acquisition channel for startups    ,"

    Dissertation Chair: Pengfei Wang

     

    Anparasan Mahalingam (Purdue University PhD), Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Utah; Assistant Professor at Syracuse University

    Dissertation Title: "Corporate Strategies of Digital Organizations,"

    Dissertation Co-Chairs: Richard Makadok and Tony Tong

     

    Each finalist will present a summary of his or her dissertation at the August annual conference on Monday, August 8th from 3:00-4:30 pm Pacific. This special session is scheduled to be held in the Sheraton Hotel, Metropolitan A suite.  The 2022 winner will be announced during the STR Business meeting - which follows this event.
