AOM Presenter Symposium: Generative AI, Entrepreneurship, and Human Capital

    Date and Time: Monday, Jul 28 2025 1:45PM - 3:15PM CEST (GMT+2/UTC+2)

Location: Bella Center in Hall D- D3-m1

The recent development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has driven rapid adoption of generative AI tools by individuals and firms worldwide. Consequently, generative AI is projected to create significant economic impacts. While several studies have shown sizable worker productivity gains from leveraging generative AI tools across a wide range of use cases, less known is how these gains may be reaped by entrepreneurs who often face significant human capital challenges when launching nascent ventures: current work on AI and entrepreneurship has been largely theoretical and has not emphasized the uniqueness of generative AI (vs. traditional AI). This symposium aims to fill these gaps in the literature by focusing specifically on generative AI technologies and by providing empirical evidence on how the access to/use of generative AI tools can impact entrepreneurship through various human capital channels.
