    STR Happy Hour

    Saturday, August 1, 2026, 4:30 – 6:30 PM EDT

Independence Beer Garden (100 S Independence Mall West, Philadelphia, PA 19106)

A short walk from the Pennsylvania Convention Center and directly across from the Liberty Bell, Independence Beer Garden is a sprawling 20,000-square-foot outdoor beer garden overlooking Independence National Historical Park. Kick off the conference by meeting fellow STR members over a rotating lineup of regional and domestic craft beers alongside cocktails, wine, and zero-proof options, with a casual menu of American bites (yes, including a cheesesteak). Our gathering falls entirely within the venue's daily happy hour, so drinks are budget-friendly.

This is an informal, pay-your-own-way meet-up: no program, no reservations - just conversation. Everyone is welcome, and doctoral students and early-career faculty are especially encouraged to drop by, whether for ten minutes or the full two hours. Look for the STR sign to find the group.

    No registration required.

STR Museum Visit: American Revolution at 250

    Sunday, August 2, 2026, 2:00 – 4:00 PM EDT

Museum of the American Revolution (101 S 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106)

    Directions and Visitor Information

What better place to experience Philadelphia in 2026 - the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence - than the Museum of the American Revolution? Join the STR Membership Engagement Committee for an informal afternoon exploring the ideas, conflicts, and people that shaped the American Revolution and continue to influence political and social movements around the world. Through original artifacts, recreated historical settings, interactive exhibits, and the museum's signature presentation of George Washington's Revolutionary War tent, the museum brings the founding of the United States to life in ways that go well beyond the familiar textbook story.

We will meet in front of the museum at 2:00 PM and explore the galleries together. This will be a relaxed opportunity to experience one of Philadelphia's most distinctive museums, connect with other STR members, and reflect on questions of leadership, collective action, institutional change, and the enduring meaning of revolution. Guests are welcome!

Admission: $27 per person if purchased at the museum, or $25 if purchased online in advance. Participants are welcome to purchase their tickets either at the museum upon arrival or online beforehand to receive the $2 discount.

Venue: To be announced to registrants

A STR Membership Engagement Committee event to connect and communicate: join with friends to figure out the most renowned papers in our field! We will use the titles of award-winning papers in Strategy, International Business, and Entrepreneurship, among others. Groups volunteer their members to act out the titles against the clock, drawing from a stack of around 50 interesting paper titles. Groups that identify the most will be recognized, with digital certificates for the first- and second-place winners and participation certificates for all. Participants can also make a balloon toy to take along!

Please register so the organizers can plan logistics; the event location will be shared with registrants in advance.
