Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to attend our symposium on the interplay between strategic leadership and employees in today's organizations. Through presentations and a panel discussion, we seek to advance the conversation on (1) how strategic leaders influence employees, such as employee well-being and commitment, and (2) how employee attitudes influence strategic leadership and firm outcomes.
The event is scheduled for August 7th at 8 AM at Boston Marriott Copley Place in Wellesley. To add the event to your personal itinerary, please click here: https://aom.econference.io/public/A5p5d1k/main/sessions/29944.
Below are the details for the symposium. We look forward to seeing you there!
ABSTRACT:
Recently, management researchers have called for more research on the relationship between strategic leadership and stakeholders, such as employees, customers, suppliers, communities, and shareholders. In this symposium, we aim to contribute to this growing body of research by focusing on the interaction between strategic leaders and employees. We have gathered four working papers from authors who are active in the fields of strategic leadership, governance, and stakeholder research and invited two renowned discussants, Donald Hambrick and Yan Anthea Zhang, who have made significant contributions to these fields. With four paper presentations and a panel discussion, we aim to advance the conversation on (1) how strategic leaders influence employees, such as employee well-being and commitment, and (2) how employee attitudes influence strategic leaders and firm outcomes. Overall, we believe the theme is important and timely given the recent focus of business leaders and management scholars on stakeholder governance and the significance of employees in firms' value creation.
